Technologies for Enhanced Quality of Life AT-EQUAL |
Two phenomena set to dramatically
transform the society in the next decades are converging. On one hand
world population is aging. On the other hand we face an accelerated
development of advanced technologies, from assistive robotics to
genetic therapies, which are revolutionizing healthcare, promising
assistance to elders and cures for previously incurable diseases.
With the intent of fostering the development and implementation of
novel technologies for enhanced quaality of life, I founded the
AT-EQUAL conferences series to facilitate interdisciplinary scientific
exchange, bringing together engineers/technologists and medical
doctors/life scientists to share latest knowledge and techniques. There
were several reasons why I chose Iasi, my hometown in Romania, as host
for this series. The brightest future I see for this city is if
it manages to emerge as a pole for education and development of such
advanced technologies oriented towards life and quality of life.
